RE: building in a volvo aq130 into a cleopatra fisherman
the engine will require engine beds, these need to be glassed in to the hull in the engine compartment so that the engine legs have a solid base to sit on, I`m about to put new beds in my fox 700, the timber needs to be wide enough for the legs to sit on, which will probably be about 125mm, care has to be taken on the height of the beds, you need to fit the outdrive first as this HAS to line up with the centre of the crankshaft of the engine, this is not a diy job as the outdrive MUST be fitted correctly as if it is too high or too low on the transom it will not perform correctly, once the outdrive is fitted the engine can then be aligned to match the outdrive, hope this helps, Steve

RE: building in a volvo aq130 into a cleopatra fisherman
thanks, the old holes wich i used from the old drive who was once behind the boat, those i used so it must be correct, you mean that i have to buy timber en fit it in the engine room , and how do i mesure the hight of the timber? The engine support wich i have are from vetus (standard) i have attached a picture of the engine room...you mean i must make a lenght of timber and lay it on the floor in the engine room? Between the first or second .....how do you call the obstacle wich are on the floor right now? maybe with that i can get some further help.
ps i was searching for parts for my motor and i saw that i mis the engine bracket...and i think i do need that part. So is there someone who can help me with a compleet engine bracket? thanks |

RE: building in a volvo aq130 into a cleopatra fisherman
you need 2 lenghts of timber to run from the transom and forward so that the engine feet sit on them, the timber engine beds must be fibreglassed to the hull to maintain strength, it really is a specialists job to fit an engine and outdrive

I have twin 130's in my 850 and they are not sitting on engine beds, they are just hung off the transom? Are you not able to use that method in a fisherman?
My Project: Cleopatra 850 "Morning Ebb" - Twin Volvo Petrols Who needs money anyway??

RE: building in a volvo aq130 into a cleopatra fisherman
It would seem that the original volvo engines fitted to a fisheman were hung on the transom. I have fitted Perkins 4108 in my weekender and thought it was a better idea to fiberglass a suport in first.I can email photos if you are intrested.
