Replacing rotten stringers
I am tackling the massive job of replacing rotten stringers in the engine bay of my 850. So far I have cut the old ones out, next to prep the surface for new wood and re glassing.

Are there any tips or tricks that anyone can share with me before I continue with the replacement? I plan to use solid wood, of the same size.

Cheers,
Louis

RE: Replacing rotten stringers
Yet more rotten stringers, I didnt use wood again but built it up in fibreglass, much stronger, there is a big possability that the rest of the stringers in your boat will also be rotten ( mine were ), I now have no wood based stringers left in the boat, louis, make sure you cut back the flowcoat to the existing glass, the new resin wont take too well to the flowcoat,Steve

RE: Replacing rotten stringers
Thanks, Andy,

Now I now what stringers are. I am have that mine are sound. Nast job to repair them.
I think the best is to take the old ones out as far as you can and replace them with hard wood or even use "plastic"stripa and bed the in with glass fibre. It will last for ever(?)

Regards,

Rinus

Andy , how is your Cleo now? Good progress?
